Job Description

The Center for Equity & Inclusion is a shared multi-purpose campus community space open to all Pratt students, faculty, and staff. Co-managed by the Office of Student Involvement and the Office of Engagement, Culture & Community (ECC). The CEI serves as a campus hub for educational programming, dialogue initiatives, cultural events, leadership development, collaborative initiatives, and campus-wide engagement opportunities that strengthen institutional connection and community participation.

 

The Peer Leader role is a student leadership position focused on strengthening campus connection, engagement, and shared community care through operational support, peer engagement, educational initiatives, and community-centered practices. Peer Leaders serve as visible student leaders who help maintain a welcoming, community-centered environment while supporting programs, events, dialogue, and engagement initiatives that foster a connected, engaged campus community. Peer Leaders play an active role in supporting the CEI’s daily operations, facilitating peer engagement and dialogue, assisting with educational programming and campus initiatives, and collaborating with professional staff and campus partners to strengthen community connections and the overall student experience.

Job Requirements

The Peer Leader responsibilities are organized into three core areas:

 

1. Community Engagement and Programming (45%)

 

  • Support the planning, coordination, implementation, and promotion of educational initiatives, dialogue experiences, and community-centered engagement efforts.

  • Serve as a peer engagement liaison supporting collaboration and connection among students, student organizations, faculty, staff, and campus partners.

  • Represent the CEI during campus-wide engagement initiatives, educational programs, and community events.

  • Facilitate peer-to-peer conversations and dialogue experiences that encourage shared learning, respectful engagement, and community connection across diverse perspectives and experiences.

  • Support outreach and promotional efforts through digital design, social media, and communication platforms, including Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Assist with outreach and engagement strategies that strengthen student participation, visibility, and community connection initiatives.

 

2. Community Space Operations and Engagement Support (35%)

  • Support the daily operations of the space by helping maintain a welcoming, organized, and community-centered environment that strengthens engagement and campus connection.

  • Conduct regular space check-ins to support daily operations and community space functionality.

  • Provide operational and implementation support for programs, educational initiatives, community events, and space reservations, including setup, technology coordination, room arrangements, and event breakdown.

  • Support operational coordination by monitoring supplies, shared resources, and space needs while communicating maintenance or facilities concerns to professional staff.

  • Help uphold community standards, shared community care, and posting guidelines throughout the space. 

  • Support the upkeep of community resources, displays, and installations as appropriate.

3. Leadership, Collaboration, and Professional Development (20%)

  • Collaborate with professional staff on departmental initiatives, educational programming, engagement efforts, and community-centered projects.

  • Complete administrative responsibilities, operational assignments, and ongoing training requirements.

  • Contribute to a collaborative and community-centered environment grounded in shared community care, respect, creativity, and engagement.

  • Participate in leadership development opportunities, peer engagement initiatives, trainings, and ongoing skill-building experiences.

Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated interest in campus engagement, leadership development, educational programming, community-building, and student involvement. 

  • Ability to engage thoughtfully across diverse perspectives and experiences while contributing to respectful, collaborative, and community-centered environments.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to take initiative, manage responsibilities independently, and work effectively as part of a team.

  • Familiarity with the Pratt community, campus culture, and student support resources preferred.

  • Experience with digital design and communication platforms, including Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media tools, preferred.

  • Ability to balance operational responsibilities with community engagement, programming, peer support, and collaborative initiatives.

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate student in good academic standing.

  • Availability to work a minimum of 12 hours per week, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends.
