Job Description

The Pratt Institute Libraries are seeking a graduate assistant to work with our circulating 16mm collection, which contains over 2,400 titles. This position will be available at the start of the Summer I semester (starting the week of 5/18/2026.) This is an on-site role and work will be performed in the Brooklyn campus library between the hours of 9am and 4pm. Compensation is $20/hour, paid biweekly.

Job Duties:

  • Inspect and repair 16mm films;
  • Enter assessment information into a FileMaker database;
  • Enhance the Libraries' catalog by performing copy cataloging and original cataloging;
  • Assist in an assessment project in preparation for rehousing and reshaping the 16mm collection;
  • Other duties as needed.
Job Requirements

A successful applicant will be:

  • Enrolled in the M.S.L.I.S. program, or M.S.L.I.S./M.A. History of Art and Design dual degree program;
  • Able to work independently with little or no direct supervision.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of film history and moving image formats;
  • Experience working with spreadsheets, Filemaker Pro, or related technologies;
  • Cataloging and/or data entry experience preferred
