Every summer, Pratt Institute sponsors a college-level program for high school students aged 16-18 from across the country and around the world on our Brooklyn campus. This intensive immersion experience offers students the opportunity to live on campus and study in art, design, or creative writing programs, modeled after Pratt’s undergraduate offerings. In your application, you will be asked to indicate your preferred roles:
CULTURAL ENGAGEMENT MENTOR Schedule: Wednesdays & Sundays, 10 AM - 6 PM Job Description: Lead students on museum visits, cultural excursions, and off-campus activities. Cultural Engagement Mentors serve as direct liaisons for the PreCollege program and act as role models for students. Applicants should have a strong interest in art history and cultural studies and be able to engage a small group of students. A solid knowledge of New York City and the ability to navigate the public transportation system are essential.
STUDIO MENTOR Schedule: Mondays & Thursdays and/or Tuesdays & Fridays, 2 PM - 10 PM Job Description: Provide guidance and critique to support PreCollege students in completing assigned coursework. Lead studio space activities as needed, monitor attendance, respond to student questions, and enforce institutional policies. Applicants should be passionate about fostering a healthy studio culture, have strong knowledge within their selected discipline, and possess the ability to engage a small group of students.
STUDENT LEADER Schedule: 35 hours per week; flexibility required Job Description: Assist with the daily operations of the PreCollege program, providing administrative support, coordinating events, and communicating with students, parents, and staff. Responsibilities include responding to inquiries, helping with event logistics, creating promotional materials, and ensuring a smooth, positive experience for all participants. The Student Leader will also collaborate with other team members to foster a supportive and organized environment, assist students with campus resources, and help manage various aspects of the program. Note: Student leaders will begin work June 2, 2025
Please Note: - All positions are 100% in person on Pratt’s Brooklyn campus. - Students may work as both a Studio and Cultural Engagement Mentor, Student Leaders may not take a 2nd role - Students can work a maximum of 35 hours per week across all Pratt positions.
