Job Description

Under moderate supervision perform administrative and designer duties in support of the Undergraduate Communications Design Department.

Job Duties

  • Greet all individuals who visit the Communications Design Department Office (the office houses both Undergraduate & Graduate programs)

  • Respond to in-person and phone inquiries from students, parents, faculty, and administrators about the Undergrad Communications Design department

  • Route all inquiries to the appropriate Administrator (both Undergrad & Grad)

  • Assist with designing posters for department events, email announcements, publications, etc.

  • Assist their supervisor (Department Manager) in gathering information for ad hoc projects

  • Perform office assistant duties (i.e., process incoming and outgoing mail; photocopy and collate materials for distribution; assist with archiving student work; keep office and kitchen tidy, etc)

  • Assist with event and meeting set-up (preparing event space, setting up av equipment, etc)

  • Perform all other related duties as assigned

Perks

  • If there’s downtime, student employees are permitted to work on homework or personal projects.

  • We order additional food for student employees scheduled to work during department events and meetings.

Skills

  • Ability to switch between tasks and manage competing deadlines

  • Follow through is a must. This role will require uncompleted projects to be handed over to the next scheduled student worker prior to their shift ending  

  • Ability to use discretion required

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills

  • Must have working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and G Suite

  • Knowledge of Pratt policies and internal software a plus

  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with staff, faculty, and students from diverse backgrounds
