Job Description

The Higgins Hall AV Center serves the School of Architecture with audiovisual support and resource lending for faculty. The AV Center supports all TEC Rooms within Higgins Hall in cooperation with the Pratt Technology Desk.

Higgins AV Classroom Technology Assistants are the first point of contact for Pratt students, faculty and staff at Higgins AV Center. They process equipment reservations, monitor designated classrooms and spaces, assist the full-time technician in more complicated A/V repairs and system configurations as needed. The position is supervised by the Higgins Hall AV Manager.

The office hours are 8am–8:30pm, Monday through Friday. Student employees will cover these hours through different shifts.

Responsibilities:

  • Check the classroom AV equipment before and after each class, make sure all classroom equipment functions properly and all the accessories are in place
  • Report issues to the office, inquire availability of accessories and equipment, document tech support requests
  • Clean classroom AV equipment following the provided cleaning guidelines, ensure cable management is unobtrusive, and all cables are coiled properly
  • Assist faculty and students with room technology, troubleshoot as needed
  • Assist AV technicians with the equipment installation and breakdown
  • Transport and install equipment throughout Higgins Hall as needed
  • Assist in supporting hybrid events
  • Circulate AV equipment to faculty, process reservations and returns following the office guidelines
  • Keep the office clean and organized
  • Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Reliable, prompt, and on-time
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic System Preferences knowledge for Mac and Windows computers (Display, Sound, Camera, Bluetooth, Network Settings)
  • Knowledge of wireless device mirroring protocols (AirPlay, Miracast)
  • Be comfortable with technology and able to learn basic AV troubleshooting: connections, displays, speakers, AppleTVs, projectors
  • Experience in common applications used on campus such as Zoom, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps
  • An interest in design as it relates to audio/visual systems and technology is a plus
  • Experience and/or interest in sound reinforcement and recording
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (daily activities may include rolling TV carts and carrying speakers)
