Job Description

The Technical Assistant at the Instructional Technology division of Pratt IT department is responsible for assisting staff with day-to-day operations central to Audio Visual and IT support in classrooms. The core tasks revolve around classroom technology checks, assisting with maintenance, assisting the AV Manager in more complicated AV repairs and system configurations, and providing support to faculty. The position is supervised by the Instructional Technology division AV Manager. This is a Graduate Assistant position.

This is a stipend funded position, the base pay rate is $20/hour.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily operations and maintenance within classrooms and conference spaces
  • Perform preventative maintenance and cleaning as needed
  • Provide technical support to faculty in classrooms
  • Monitor and prioritize support requests via ticketing system
  • Transport and install equipment throughout the campus as needed
  • Coordinate production of training and instructional materials
  • Catalog equipment, print and laminate tags and signage
  • Keep the office clean and organized
  • Assist in supporting hybrid events
  • Assist in administering Google services, Slack, Asana
  • Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements

  • Basic System Preferences knowledge for Mac and Windows computers (Display, Sound, Camera, Bluetooth, Network Settings)
  • Knowledge of wireless device mirroring protocols (AirPlay, Miracast)
  • Be comfortable with technology and able to learn basic AV troubleshooting: connections, displays, speakers, AppleTVs, projectors
  • Experience in common applications used on campus such as Zoom, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps
  • An interest in programming and design as it relates to audio/visual systems and technology is a plus
  • Experience and/or interest in sound reinforcement and recording
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (daily activities may include carrying AV equipment)
