Job Description

STEAM Lab is a program within Pratt's Center K-12, that provides free in-school, after-school, and weekend classes to over 260 middle school and high school students annually. Leveraging Pratt’s faculty experts, facilities, resources and network of collaborators, it offers rigorous science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) programming, augmented by academic tutoring, SAT prep and college counseling. Classes are run on-site at partner schools, at Pratt’s  state-of-the-art maker space at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and on Pratt’s main campus.

STEAM Lab is looking for Teaching Assistants for our Wood Works course for high schoolers. In this course, students will learn a range of basic woodworking skills, which they will use in a range of projects, culminating in a custom-built, functional automata.

The position is at the Pratt Institute Research Yard on Thursdays 3:30-6:30pm, from February 26 through May 21. Teaching Assitants will help with teaching students, as well as prep work, attendance, and cleanup.

As you will be guiding inexperienced young people in using power tools, safety and reliability are of the utmost importance.
