Job Description

Gallery Tech Assistant

 

Looking for a graduate student to act as gallery tech assistant to support an immersive projects gallery, located in the ARC building. The gallery is an exhibition and lab space dedicated to innovative gallery presentations utilizing immersive technologies. It is equipped with an LED wall, fisheye projector, Ketra programmable lighting, and surround sound JBL speakers. It is used for exhibitions, workshops, class demonstrations and other events.

 

The gallery tech assistant will provide support with:

  • maintain all gallery technology (condition, repairs, updates, routine checks)

  • develop plug-and-play templates in TouchDesigner for presenters to utilize LED wall and fisheye projector and other available tech

  • assist with exhibition preparations, installation and de-installation as needed

  • assist with class visits and gallery events as needed

  • assistance with installation and de-installation as appropriate

  • shared management of logistics, details and troubleshooting during installations and events

  • general assistance with technical questions and equipment use

This assistant will work closely with the Gallery Administrative GA as well as the Assistant to the Chair of MSCI and the Assistant Dean in SLAS.

 
Job Requirements
  • responsible, reliable, well-organized, detail-oriented, tactful, motivated

  • experience with projection, audio/video and computer hardware

  • proficiency with TouchDesigner and Unreal Engine

  • strong troubleshooting skills

  • ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

  • good interpersonal skills

  • experience with installing media-based work a plus

  • must be enrolled in at least 6 credits/semester
